- During the 2019 legislative session, language was added to Florida Statutes to increase human trafficking awareness by imposing various requirements on public lodging establishments, including apartment communities.
- The new requirements became effective on January 1, 2021, and the law is being enforced by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR).
- The law 's intent is to help raise awareness about human trafficking and increase employee training on the topic.
